  Colombia has concentrated its production of biofuel around sugar cane and palm of oil. This is because of its climatic and topographic conditions. Other producing countries of biofuel worldwide as The United States and Germany, it must center their productions of Ethanol and Biodiesel on a cultivation of low energy efficiency as the wheat and the rape.
  
  The sugar industry of Colombia possesses the highest indexes of productivity in the world, getting to produce 9,000 liters of ethanol / year / hectare.
  
  Nowadays Colombia is the fifth producer of oil of palm worldwide and the first one in Latin-American.

• Merhav – Israel (2010)
  
  With an investment estimated in US$ 300 million the Israelite Merhav expects to produce 376.000 Lt/día of ethanol. The plant is located in Magdalena's department and possesses 12.000 hectares cultivated with cane, generating 1.000 direct employments. It initiates operations in 2012.

• Odin Group – Japón (2008)
  With an investment estimated in US$ 20 million the Japanese Odin Group produces 121 thousand liters / day of biodiesel. The plant is located in Magdalena and possesses 8.000 hectares cultivated with palm.
